Healing & Aftercare Guide
General Healing Timeline
Healing from permanent makeup procedures typically follows a 4-week cycle. Here’s what to expect as your body recovers and pigment settles:
Week 1 – Immediate Recovery
- Swelling, tenderness, and some redness are common.
- Color appears bold and dark – this is normal and will fade.
- Scabbing or flaking may begin after 3-4 days.
Week 2 – Peeling & Color Lightening
- Peeling typically finishes and pigment appears much lighter.
- The area may feel dry or itchy – resist scratching.
- Color may seem patchy, but this is part of the healing phase.
Week 3 – Color Rebalance
- The pigment begins to stabilize in the skin.
- Color returns slightly darker but more natural-looking.
- This is when the true healed result starts to emerge.
Week 4 – Fully Settled
- The skin is fully healed and color is consistent.
- Touch-up appointments are recommended around this time.
Lip Tattoo Aftercare
The lips are sensitive and prone to swelling. Here’s how to care for them:
- Apply the recommended healing balm frequently, especially after eating.
- Avoid spicy, hot, or salty foods for the first few days.
- Do not stretch or pick the lips while healing.
Eyebrow Tattoo Aftercare
Brows may go through noticeable color shifts as they heal:
- Keep brows dry for the first 24 hours.
- Apply ointment lightly if instructed – don’t over-moisturize.
- Avoid sun exposure and brow makeup until fully healed.
Eyeliner Tattoo Aftercare
The eye area is delicate and will swell slightly:
- Sleep elevated the first night to minimize swelling.
- Do not apply mascara or eye cream for at least 10 days.
- Rinse gently with cool water and pat dry if needed.
